About the role
Thermo King of Dallas is hiring a Service Writer to perform administrative and office support activities for the Service Department, ensuring efficient operation at our Dallas location (3323 Jane Lane, Dallas TX 75247).
Responsibilities
- Assist with answering telephone and monitoring lines on hold for prompt response time.
- Greet service customers with a positive attitude.
- Inspect new trucks and trailers for damage before logging equipment; complete check-in forms.
- Alert sales staff via email with VIN# and scan check-in forms for new equipment arriving for install.
- Document customer complaints and open work orders.
- Maintain communication with service management on progress and keep customers informed about service job status.
- Write up and prepare work orders for final review and invoicing; obtain purchase orders for open accounts.
- Maintain a strong, personal commitment to the safety culture.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with customers, vendors, and all levels of an organization is preferred.
- Proficiency in desktop computer systems, hardware, and software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, Internet navigation, 10-key touch, minimum 40 WPM).

Physical Activities & Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Work in air-conditioned office, outside, and workshop environments.
- Occasionally required to work more than 8 hours in a shift.
- Requires occasional bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying.
- Reaching or handling with arms, hands, and fingers; manual dexterity sufficient for frequent typing.
- Normal vision with or without corrective lenses.
