Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of HVAC and building automation systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform start-up, checking, testing, system diagnostics, and commissioning from system-level controllers to end devices for small to medium-sized new or retrofit projects.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance service activities to ensure optimal system performance.
- Provide emergency service and response to customer sites as dispatched.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair and/or replace control components and controls systems, including mechanical, HVAC, and electrical issues related to BAS control system operation.
- Load and update software on network controllers, field controllers, computers, and servers.
- Understand complex control systems, including diagnosing and troubleshooting networking and integration.
- Write, create, load, test, and commission programming software and graphics using various programming languages and software.
- Perform and execute assigned work efficiently and professionally.
- Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site; keep customers informed on service provided, outstanding issues, and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, or replacements.
- Promote the sale of add-on work and train customers in control systems operations, including obtaining customer training forms and providing training certificates.
- Complete, compile, and submit job documentation such as commissioning documentation, punch lists, and mark-up controls submittals for As-Builts.
- Interface with service managers, project managers, or subcontractors to coordinate activities in an ethical and professional manner; report problems or changes to management immediately.
- Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads and proposals for retrofits, upgrades, or enhancements to existing equipment; may assist with job layouts.
- Complete and submit timely electronic documentation, including time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
- Conduct extensive self-study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company product lines; complete certifications as required.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems.
- Vocational school 2-year program graduate or an Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or similar field, or equivalent industry experience.
- 1-5 years of increasingly responsible experience in servicing electronic controls and HVAC equipment.
- Ability to coordinate the work of others on multiple job sites.
- Siemens automation front-end experience strongly preferred (Desigo CC, Desigo Optic, Apogee Insight, Datamate Advanced, ABT site).
- Apogee/Talon and Desigo hardware experience strongly preferred.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company ethically and professionally to customers and outside contacts.
- Experience in writing and demonstrated understanding of computer programs and software applications related to the HVAC industry.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

This role can work out of the Greater Phoenix or Tucson area. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screenings, including a background check, drug screening, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) for positions requiring driving.
