Responsibilities
- Conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of systems.
- Performs point-to-point check-out to verify proper installation of controls systems.
- Completes assigned system commissioning and performs device verification.
- Troubleshoots and resolves HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
- Completes required project documentation.
- Responds to service calls.
- Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interaction.
- Completes required project and service documentation.
- Executes HVAC Building Automation projects, including start-up, checking, testing, system diagnostics, and commissioning.
- Provides preventative and predictive maintenance service activities to ensure optimal system performance.
- Performs emergency service and response at customer sites as dispatched.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, and replaces control components and controls systems.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical, HVAC, and electrical issues related to BAS control system operation.
- Loads and updates software on network controllers, field controllers, computers, and servers.
- Understands complex control systems, including networking and integration.
- Communicates with customers upon arrival and departure, becoming familiar with operating problems, and recommending system enhancements, upgrades, and replacements.
- Trains customers in control systems operations, including obtaining customer training forms and providing training certificates.
- Completes and submits job documentation such as commissioning documentation, punch lists, etc.
- Interfaces with service manager, service project manager, or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required.
- Reports problems or changes to management immediately.
- Aids sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads and proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements to existing equipment.
- Completes and submits timely electronic documentation, including time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
- Engages in extensive self-study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company’s product lines.
- Completes certifications as required by the company.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital control systems.
- Vocational School four-year program graduate or an Associate's degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or similar field.
- Two to four years of increasingly responsible experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems.
- Two to four years of increasingly responsible experience in servicing electronic controls and HVAC equipment.
- Experience in writing and understanding computer programs and software applications relevant to the HVAC industry.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts ethically and professionally.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
