About the role

The candidate will spend a majority of their time in the field responding to daily HVAC-R service requests and performing scheduled preventative maintenance on campus HVAC and energy management equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to daily service requests (work orders) and scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Perform a variety of trouble shooting, installation, repair, and maintenance tasks
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and overhaul various HVAC and related equipment including coolers, refrigerators, air conditioning units, humidifiers, compressors, ventilators, cooling towers, and more
  • Service and maintain HVAC building automation systems (BAS) and electrical/mechanical equipment
  • Document service work using computers
  • Operate computers for direct digital controls (D.D.C.)
  • Remove or install electrical/mechanical HVAC building control equipment and systems
  • Assist in small mechanical HVAC equipment and building control system (BCS) projects
  • Provide high level customer service
  • Perform emergency service promptly when notified
  • Read and understand prints and schematics
  • Work with and direct outside contractors when necessary
  • Occasionally lead a Maintenance Assistant in field tasks

Requirements

To be successful in this position, the incumbent must be able to:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and overhaul various HVAC and related equipment

  • Operate computers for direct digital controls (D.D.C.)
  • Remove or install electrical/mechanical HVAC building control equipment and systems

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with HVAC building automation systems (BAS)
  • Experience with direct digital controls (D.D.C.)
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and computerized HVAC equipment
  • Ability to read and understand prints and schematics
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Technical knowledge of HVAC systems

  • Computer literacy, particularly for D.D.C. systems
