About the role

The Mechanic/HVAC-R serves, troubleshoots, and maintains equipment in LTC Utilities such as high purity water, compressed air, steam, chilled water, glycol, city water, and sewers. Duties include supporting departmental HSE plans, participating in safety improvement activities, and assisting craftspeople in multiple crafts.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all HSE aspects and participate in Safety Improvement activities.
  • Document all work performed by following Good Documentation Practices.
  • Create and improve Job Plans and procedures.
  • Perform repairs and overhaul basic equipment (e.g., gear boxes, pumps, blowers, and fans).
  • Perform repairs and overhaul equipment to include disassembly, setting tolerances, and alignment (e.g., air compressors, vacuum pumps).
  • Manage objectives and development that align with organizational and corporate priorities using Performance Management (PM).
  • Use basic CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) functionality daily.
  • Maintain refrigerant service records.
  • Stay updated on technical/specialty skills for all utility equipment serviced.

Requirements

  • Experience working in high purity water, compressed air, steam, chilled water, glycol, city water, and sewer systems.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude is essential.
  • Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds is required.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to varying temperatures while performing duties outdoors in both winter and summer conditions.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is mandatory.
  • Universal EPA refrigerant license.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate in a mechanical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Applicable military service training may be an acceptable alternative.
  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing production environment or relevant field preferred.
  • Experience with a regulated industry; FDA regulated industries preferred.

Skills

  • Appropriate knowledge and skills in troubleshooting equipment failures with minimal downtime.
  • Good documentation practice and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Familiarity with set-up and operation of Maintenance Shop hand tools & equipment; machining and welding capability a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints/schematics.
  • Proficiency in using a CMMS (e.g., Maximo) or other work order tracking system.
  • Microsoft Applications Knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Pay

The anticipated wage for this position is $21.27 - $41.25.

Schedule

This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Temporary shift changes may occur.
