About the role
This is a skilled mechanical and electrical position requiring experience with walk-in refrigeration and freezer equipment, chillers, and performing maintenance, installation, diagnosis, and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and ventilating systems for commercial and industrial applications and other building equipment. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient operation, maintenance, repair, and minimum downtime during shift of all equipment and building systems. This position reports to the Chief Engineer and Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Performs maintenance and service repairs on building mechanical and HVAC systems
- Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines
- Operates, maintains, and adjusts all building equipment including boilers, turbines, pumps, HVAC units, walk-in refrigeration and freezer equipment, lighting, and power equipment
- Performs preventative maintenance
- Maintains accurate and timely paperwork
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Follows all safety practices and adheres to all safety-related policies
- Responds to emergency calls
- Demonstrates initiative in assignments and maintains positive customer relations
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- CFC certification
- Journeyman HVAC or MD 1ST desired
- 5+ years' experience in maintenance and repairs on commercial-industrial building equipment including but not limited to: chillers =/+ 500 tons, pumps, controls, air handlers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, VAV's, VFD's, walk-in coolers/freezers, and refrigeration systems
- Ability to demonstrate the ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and specifications
- Ability to demonstrate practical knowledge of Building Air Systems
Physical requirements
- Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, crawling under/over utilities and in compromised spaces, ascending and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees
- Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, lift equipment, and roofs in heat/cold/day/night conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
