About the role
The Service Dispatcher is a critical role that coordinates customer requests by receiving calls and dispatching fuel service technicians. This position works closely with multiple departments to ensure accurate and timely responses, billing, and customer follow-up. The role requires strong communication, prioritization, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Use excellent communication skills and professionalism to receive calls, discuss customer needs, obtain relevant information, and dispatch service technicians for response and resolution.
- Capture data in real time for service calls and communicate to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with customers on schedules, service needs, and provide follow-up information.
- Dispatch technicians based on call type, priority, skill sets, and geographic area.
- Coordinate with the Service Manager to plan daily service calls and work activities to meet customer needs.
- Identify potential safety hazards, eliminate them, or report problems to the manager before beginning work.
- Report accidents or injuries to the manager immediately.
- Generate reporting to improve response time and service scorecard.
- Maintain preventative maintenance and project schedules to accommodate customer needs.
- Provide spreadsheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports as necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Some work experience in a dispatching role preferred.
- Ability to speak on the telephone or two-way radio using the English language.
- Ability to type 45 words per minute.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as warranty requirements and client-specific billing requirements.
- Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence using the English language.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with whole numbers and fractions.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and meet the company’s employment requirements, including passing a drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR (if driving for the company).
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting/carrying of up to 10 pounds.
- Visual acuity, speech, and hearing required.
- Hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment.
- Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform essential functions.
- Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Schedule
This is an in-office position with a weekly schedule of Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with overtime as needed.
Pay
$18–$21 per hour, depending on experience.
