About the role

The Server plays an integral role in the success of our team, our community, and creating a place our residents are proud to call home. The primary purpose of this position is to provide residents and guests with the best possible dining experience and deliver Platinum Service® with each interaction.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Distribute and collect menus as necessary.
• Take meal orders, serve food and beverages, and answer questions regarding the menu.
• Follow sanitary regulations at all times.
• Provide Platinum Service with each dining experience.
• Set up meal trays, food carts, and prepare the dining room with utensils, salt and pepper, napkins, and clean common areas before and after meals.
• Assist in checking resident trays before distribution.
• Pour hot and cold beverages for residents.
• Assist residents with opening containers and condiments as needed.
• Pay special attention to resident and guest needs while they are enjoying their dining experience.
• Prepare and deliver snacks to special events and parties hosted at the community.
• Bus tables during and after meals.
• Provide support services to other dining rooms during events and activities as needed.
• Clean dining room area according to the cleaning schedules and assignments.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Be able to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
• Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
• Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility.
• Communicate in a manner sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, team members, residents, and families.
• Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
• Food service and/or hospitality experience preferred.

Skills

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to frequently lift/carry 30 lbs. and occasionally lift/carry 50 lbs.
• Must be able to frequently push/pull up to 30 lbs. and occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Bending/twisting/stooping.
• Reaching at or below the shoulder.
• Frequently standing or walking.

Cognitive Requirements

• Executes tasks independently.
• Ability to express yourself clearly and effectively.

Environmental Requirements

• May be exposed to heat from kitchen equipment and cold from kitchen freezer.
• Tasks may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
