About the Role
The Restaurant Server oversees day-to-day customer service and food service operations in the restaurant. This role involves receiving and conveying food orders, ensuring prompt food delivery, and maintaining cleanliness in the assigned serving section. The Server is expected to provide excellent customer service and work collaboratively with the team.
Responsibilities
- Report to work on time in a clean, complete, proper uniform with a positive attitude.
- Greet all customers with a smile and a verbal greeting: "Good Morning or Welcome to Huddle House."
- Review the menu with customers when needed, suggestively sell products, and take orders at the table.
- Use proper, approved abbreviations to submit tickets to the cook's station and deliver food promptly when ready.
- Handle money from customers, ring up tickets using the POS system, and make proper change.
- Account for all tickets, credit card receipts, and ensure all tickets are rung up and closed before the shift ends.
- Complete the position checklist while stocking and preparing the unit for the next shift.
- Maintain cleanliness at all times, including bussing tables, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, and walls.
- Bring all items of concern, especially safety concerns and customer service complaints, to the manager's attention immediately.
- Know the menu, daily features, and suggest juices, add-ons, and desserts to maximize sales.
- Follow the Huddle House steps of service with every guest to maximize shift sales.
- Practice all rules for safe food handling, cash security, and other restaurant policies.
- Perform prepping and cleaning duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Control waste and portion sizes to help manage food costs.
- Perform all duties with a sense of urgency.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all restaurant staff.
- Some previous restaurant experience preferred.
