Senior/Staff Software Engineer - Operational Tools

About the role

Zoox is revolutionizing how people move by creating an autonomous ride-hailing service. The Ops Tools team is the central nervous system of this mission, and we're seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to lead the full-stack systems that manage and scale our fleet of autonomous robotaxis.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own the full-stack systems providing real-time vehicle monitoring, automation, and live support for our riders.
• Provide architectural leadership across the stack, from the front-end to backend services and AI infrastructure.
• Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and technically excellent.
• Mentor and guide other engineers on the team, elevating the technical bar through code reviews, design discussions, and championing best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and remote operators to develop new features addressing industry challenges.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with a front-end UI framework (e.g., Vue, React, Svelte).
• Ability to design and architect large-scale full-stack systems.
• Clear communication and consistent collaboration skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Python or C++.
• Familiarity with 3D graphics and 3D spatial reasoning.

Pay

$210,000 - $305,000 per year
