Job Summary
Conduct research on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models. Performs drug treatment and behavioral tests on mice. Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it. Collects and prepares mouse specimens for histology and molecular/biochemical analysis. Performs stereotactic surgery. Manages transgenic mouse colony and performs small animal surgical and behavioral procedures. Identifies and implements experimental and analytical pipeline improvements and refinements. Contributes to manuscript and grant preparation by providing figures, methods, and technical expertise. Mentors junior lab members and promotes a collaborative, high-performance lab culture.
Responsibilities
- Conducts research on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models.
- Performs drug treatment and behavioral tests on mice.
- Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
- Collects and prepares mouse specimens for histology and molecular/biochemical analysis.
- Performs stereotactic surgery.
- Performs a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures.
- Manages transgenic mouse colony and performs small animal surgical and behavioral procedures.
- Identifies and implements experimental and analytical pipeline improvements and refinements.
- Prepares research papers.
- Mentors junior lab members and promotes a collaborative, high-performance lab culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned.
- Minimum of two years of applicable experience in research, basic science or a clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
