Research Assistant- MCG Neurology
About the role
Performs a variety of complex duties involved in a clinical study, a basic science or research laboratory in support of research initiatives; develops and evaluates new techniques and procedures; may coordinate activities of support staff.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparation coordination of experiments and procedures to include caring for rodents, performing some functional testing, score videos, serve as a surgery assistant, assist with ordering, maintain lab equipment and logbooks, archive specimens, and other support of research team efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research or clinical setting.
- OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some previous experience with social/behavioral science (public health) research is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to work on campus.
- Able to use sound judgement and work independently.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F
Pay Band: B5
Salary Range: $17.88/hourly - $17.94/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
Recruitment Period: 6/10/26 - Until Filled
Conditions of Employment
- All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.
- If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check complete for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage.
- Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle.
