Research Assistant - Neurology (Neuromuscular)

About the role

The Research Assistant performs a variety of duties involved in conducting physical, chemical, biological, and other research laboratory tests, experiments, and determinations to obtain data for research purposes. This position supports clinical research coordinators within the Neuromuscular division on recruiting, study visit scheduling and preparation, maintenance of the investigator site file, data entry, and other tasks. The Research Assistant collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, research, and hospital staff to assist in the overall clinical study coordination of clinical research.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain regulatory binders.
• Ensure all study data is entered into sponsor-provided and/or internal KU databases per sponsor requirements.
• Answer and address data queries within study databases.
• Assist with potential study subject screening and recruitment.
• Assist clinical research coordinators in study visit preparation by printing forms and preparing lab kits.
• Compile, analyze, document, and draw tentative conclusions from experimental results.
• Confer with principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments; make minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques as needed.
• Review laboratory methods manual, scientific journals, abstracts, and other literature for information applicable to research experiments.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of relevant work experience. Relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Qualifications

• Prior health care or research experience (preferred).
• Experience with electronic medical records (preferred).
• Experience in Neurology or Neuromuscular research (preferred).

Pay

The pay range for this position is $22.88 - $33.17 per hour. A reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range ($22.88 - $28.03), taking into account education, experience, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding.
