About the role

The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at Augusta University is seeking a researcher to contribute to cutting-edge biomedical research and translational studies. The successful candidate will be involved in various aspects of research, including data collection, experimental design, and manuscript preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
  • Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational, and dissection procedures.
  • Develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures.
  • Analyze results of experiments and procedures using manual or computer techniques.
  • Compose articles for publication in scientific journals.
  • Advise principal investigators, other postdocs, students, and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities.
  • Assist the PI with supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Perform experiments using acute and chronic stress models, transgenic mouse models, and high-fat diet model, performing behavioral tests evaluating depression, anxiety, PTSD, learning and memory.
  • Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned, with two years of experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory, particularly clinical trial research.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned, with a minimum of five years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Pay Band: B9
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
