About the Role

As the Senior Quality Engineer, you will lead the effective execution of Lear’s core warranty management processes—including customer-specific requirements and compliance, warranty data analysis, part return analysis, warranty lessons learned, system improvements, and debit management—to reduce warranty incidences, exposure, and cost. You will also serve as the subject matter expert for assigned customer(s).

Responsibilities

  • Warranty Management Process Compliance
    • Ensure compliance to AIAG’s CQI-14 and customer-specific requirements (Stellantis and GM).
    • Perform audits and assist in developing initiatives for continual improvement of CQI-14 requirements.
    • Review warranty customer requirements during program pre-launch and disseminate findings to the team.
    • Regularly review customer-specific requirements for warranty-related changes and communicate updates.
  • Warranty Claim Data Management
    • Analyze warranty data and performance metrics to identify contributors to warranty claims.
    • Lead cross-functional team reviews to drive quick resolution of warranty issues.
    • Provide regular warranty performance and status updates to internal and external customers.
    • Validate the effectiveness of corrective actions and monitor for containment breaks.
    • Track current and previous model years’ warranty performance through the end of the warranty period for high time-in-service spikes.
    • Review the quality of warranty 8D reports and report findings to the customer.
    • Drive timely closure of assigned issues.
    • Update the monthly warranty scorecard with findings and corrective actions.
    • Administer and maintain the Lear SharePoint Site with up-to-date information.
    • Utilize FOUNDRY (warranty database) for data management.
  • Warranty Part Return Management
    • Serve as the primary contact for warranty returned parts and reviews; initiate part return requests as necessary.
    • Document findings in Lear’s warranty database.
    • Lead cross-functional team reviews to address findings from part analysis.
    • Establish liability percentages and conduct deep-dive analyses to determine true root causes, including NTF (No Trouble Found) investigations.
    • Anticipate and overcome operational obstacles to complete analysis efforts.
    • Ensure customer parts return analysis submission requirements are met with timely responses.
    • Review the quality of warranty 8D reports and report findings to the customer.
    • Prepare analysis and report-outs for internal and customer reviews.
    • Update the monthly warranty scorecard with findings and corrective actions.
    • Validate the effectiveness of corrective actions and monitor for containment breaks.
    • Maintain the Lear SharePoint Site with current information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in electrical, industrial, or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing, engineering, or a related environment.
  • Fluent in written and verbal English.
  • Electrical product design/manufacturing experience.
  • Strong data analytic and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in time management and organization.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide teams toward defined goals.
  • Ability to systematically identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions, including read-across to similar products or applications for prevention.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of problem-solving tools, methodologies, and statistics, with the ability to apply them to test performance models and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge, practice, and application of industry-specific regulatory authorities’ product, process, and quality system standards, as well as customer-specific warranty requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint; skilled at documenting and presenting analytical results.
  • Ability to use statistical tools and techniques to perform data analyses.
  • Able to write queries, use commercial tools, or leverage customer warranty data warehouse systems to produce reports and analytical results.
  • Experience working with customer plants, Lear manufacturing plants, and various locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ford warranty system knowledge.
