Senior Product Manager, 5G As A Service for Government
About the role
The Senior Product Manager, 5G Advanced Network Solutions (ANS) for Government is a visionary, strategist, analyst, customer evangelist, respected leader of execution, and professional relationship builder. This role is responsible for identifying the intersection of customer problems/unmet needs, technical feasibility, business objectives, securing funding, and leading cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to deliver solutions. The Senior Product Manager will champion and lead customer solutions leveraging T-Mobile’s nationwide 5G Stand Alone network, focusing on advanced 5G technologies like Network Slicing, Local Breakout, and Private 5G Networks to create business outcomes.
This role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with current and potential customers, industry partners, and internal stakeholders such as Network Engineering, Information Technology, Customer Care, and Marketing. The ideal candidate will drive executive relationships through extensive knowledge and industry solutions, determining effective go-to-market and partnership collaboration strategies.
Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Owns product end-to-end for complex or cross-platform solutions, including creating, managing, maintaining, and communicating product vision and roadmap.
- Identifies target customers for existing or future products and drives end-user product research.
- Partners with business, internal/external stakeholders, and leadership to understand current customer experiences and identify areas of opportunity.
- Conducts analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to identify product innovation opportunities or root causes of issues.
- Works with data scientists to answer complex questions or identify meaningful insights from data.
- Conducts cost-benefit, ROI, NPV, and competitive product analyses to support decision-making.
- Works with stakeholders to secure and maintain product funding.
- Anticipates industry trends and incorporates analyses into the product process.
- Stakeholder Communication & Executive Engagement
- Communicates, influences, and sells ideas at the VP level and below, including delivering product presentations.
- Drives specific ad-hoc analysis and presents information to executive-level management on request.
- Influences product feature set and positioning strategies to improve customer experience and drive growth.
- Works with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.
- Maintains a current understanding of tech trends and assesses their impact on the roadmap.
- Customer Insights & Voice of Customer
- Leverages customer insights for product vision, strategy, roadmap, and priorities.
- Dedicates time to actively meeting with customers to build deeper empathy and understand their needs.
- Creates, manages, and fosters an active Voice of Customer (VOC) feed for themselves and the team.
- Evangelizes and advocates for the customer internally and externally, perpetuating a customer-first mindset.
- Tests ideas with real customers to ensure the product delivers the desired benefit.
- Product Execution & Backlog Management
- Translates product/platform strategy by writing detailed requirements and creating required documentation.
- Owns and manages the product backlog and priorities with business and technology partners.
- Scopes and ensures alignment on prioritization of activities based on business and customer impact.
- Collaborates with Architecture and Dev teams to ensure technical debt and long-term technical investment are factored into the roadmap.
- Ensures existing production defects are factored into regular backlog prioritization for resolution.
- Collaborates with stakeholders and Dev/Execution teams to create and communicate anticipated release schedules.
- Generates and maintains dashboards and reports that track product health and success metrics.
- Conducts Product Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and Steering meetings.
- Product Performance & Operations
- Runs beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples.
- Collaborates with advertising and public relations to promote products.
- Supports sales, marketing, and other stakeholder teams with necessary product knowledge and documentation.
- Assists with overall execution relating to all aspects of the software development process.
- Recognizes and communicates technical challenges to stakeholders and makes educated trade-off decisions with the team.
- Accountable for product quality and performance in the production environment.
- Manages product team response in the event of critical or high-impacting defects, including communications to stakeholders.
- Manages development of adoption tools and training materials.
- Identifies execution, operational, or organizational issues that impede product success and drives improvement plans.
- Relationship & People, Professional Development
- Collaborates and develops positive working relationships with teams including sales, commercial accounting, marketing, legal, go-to-market, and finance.
- Works with outside partners and third parties.
- Develops positive working relationships with customer groups or customer representatives.
- Maintains professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- 7+ years of relevant Product Management experience.
- Advanced level understanding of customer experience.
- Experience launching products in the Government/Public Safety segment.
Skills
- Product Lifecycle Management: Experience in delivering large and complex business/technology initiatives (required).
- Communication: Proven ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with leadership, employing a high degree of collaboration and influence (required).
- Agile & Scrum: Proven success in directing matrixed resources and delivering software using Agile Scrum methodologies (required).
- Technical Writing: Strong requirements elicitation and proven writing skills, including the ability to write concisely and clearly for different audiences (required).
- Business Analytics: Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and synthesize product use data to drive decisions (required).
Legally authorized to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Travel
Travel is required for this role.
Pay
Base pay range: $121,600 - $219,400. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on work location, qualifications, and experience. Corporate bonus target: 20%. Most corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance.
