Location: Huntsville, AL (315 Bob Heath Dr) – 100% onsite role. U.S. citizenship is required due to U.S. government security clearance requirements; an active and existing Secret DoD clearance is required after day one.

About the Role

The Effector Guidance Electronics Department in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer (PDE) to serve as the affordability, manufacturability, and producibility expert for all Effector Programs. This role supports the Electrical Products design community in circuit card/printed wiring board assembly, manufacturing, and the integrated assembly of electronic components into subsystems. Responsibilities span the entire product lifecycle, from initial bill-of-material selection through PCB manufacturing, circuit card assembly (CCA), and subsystem assembly, including resolution of technical and supplier-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) on materials selection, construction, layout, component selection and placement, design rule interpretation, and current Center of Excellence (COE) capabilities and practices.
  • Create development schedules/plans and ensure timely participation of relevant functions (Mechanical Engineering, ECAD, Parts Engineering, Planners, and Suppliers).
  • Facilitate the prototype development process, support the Producibility Engineering community, and participate in Gate Reviews.
  • Assist in identifying and developing key PCB/CCA supplier partners.
  • Conduct periodic travel to suppliers for assessments and product readiness reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in at least two (2) of the following categories:
    • PCB manufacturing
    • Circuit card manufacturing/assembly
    • Experience with IPC and MIL specifications and design guides

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret DoD security clearance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the PCB manufacturing and tooling process.
  • Experience in PCB manufacturing and/or circuit card assembly.
  • Detailed Circuit Card Assembly process knowledge, including component placement, selection, and material selection.
  • Experience with alignment and collaboration between various disciplines within the design community to achieve organizational and programmatic objectives.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The final offer considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
