Senior Payroll Specialist

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a senior-level Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a diverse technical and administrative workforce. This role is fully onsite in Ashburn, Virginia. Candidates must have the ability to obtain a public trust security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Execute bi-weekly payroll cycles including hours, leave, deductions, and adjustments.
• Review timesheets for compliance with organizational and federal requirements.
• Research and resolve discrepancies related to pay, leave, or timekeeping.
• Provide guidance on payroll policies, procedures, and system navigation.
• Prepare payroll summaries, reconciliation reports, and audit documentation.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and support system updates.
• Support internal and external audits with required documentation.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of payroll experience.
• Knowledge of federal labor standards and timekeeping requirements.
• Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, Deltek Costpoint preferred).
• Understanding of FLSA, PTO accruals, and multi-state payroll rules.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply payroll policies consistently.

Pay

$75,000–85,000 per year, depending on experience.
