Job Summary
AutoZone’s Sr. Payroll Specialist provides administrative and clerical support, including payroll and financial support, using initiative and intermediate knowledge of applicable skills, methods, and practices.
Responsibilities
- Completes and maintains transactions in enterprise system
- Reviews and oversees all types of payroll transactions, some of which may be complex
- Ensures transactions and data are approved based on established practice and policy
- Troubleshoots inquiries and issues, performs research, and makes corrections as needed
- Coordicates escalations when necessary
- Obtains additional information from or provides instruction and guidance to customers and vendors
- Corrects or escalates as needed
- Accesses multiple systems to process transactions, retrieve information, and initiate transactions
- Interprets policies to determine the validity of customer requests and ensures compliance
- Contacts outside agencies and banks to obtain clarification of rules and/or regulations
- Maintains documentation of processes
- Enters information into HCM and other payroll-related systems
- Supports international payroll processes and teams, including but not limited to India, China, Taiwan, Turkey, Canada, Germany, France, and U.K.
- Led temporary, part-time AutoZoners or interns
- Provides guidance to Payroll Specialists or Customer Service Representatives
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
- 1-3 years accounting &/or bookkeeping experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with Global Payroll, Customer Service, or General Office required
- Proficiency in computer skills and in the use of spreadsheet and work processing software
