Senior Payroll Specialist

About the role

Eastridge Workforce Solutions is hiring a Senior Payroll Specialist for a contract opportunity with an innovative clean energy company in San Diego. This position requires recent, hands-on experience implementing and processing payroll in BambooHR.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and configuration of BambooHR Payroll, including pay schedules, earnings and deductions, tax setup, approval workflows, and payroll policies.
• Own payroll data migration from Justworks into BambooHR, validating employee records, compensation data, historical payroll information, and tax settings.
• Configure, test, and troubleshoot BambooHR payroll functionality and system integrations.
• Execute parallel payroll testing and support multiple payroll cycles following implementation to ensure payroll accuracy.
• Partner with HR, Finance, and IT to optimize payroll workflows and improve payroll processes within BambooHR.
• Develop documentation and train internal users on BambooHR payroll administration and ongoing system maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and California payroll laws throughout implementation and ongoing payroll processing.

Requirements

• 7+ years of payroll experience.
• REQUIRED: Demonstrated hands-on experience processing payroll in BambooHR.
• Strong knowledge of California payroll, multi-state payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance.
• Experience migrating payroll data between HRIS/payroll systems, including reconciliation and auditing large datasets.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with minimal ramp-up time.

Pay & Schedule

The hourly rate for this position is expected to be between $38.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on geographic location, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employment Type: Contract FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours.

Please Note: Hands-on BambooHR Payroll experience is a non-negotiable requirement for this position. Applicants without direct BambooHR payroll administration and implementation experience will not be considered.
