About the role
Join our team as a Senior Payroll Specialist and play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll for approximately 4,300 employees across multiple states. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will support union and non-union, salaried and hourly employee groups while helping maintain payroll compliance, data integrity, and exceptional service for employees and managers.
Responsibilities
- Compile and analyze time and attendance data; maintain all related reports and supporting documentation
- Identify and resolve timekeeping discrepancies (e.g., missed punches) and partner with HR and managers to ensure accurate recording of PTO, holidays, and other pay codes
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries related to payroll and timekeeping
- Generate and distribute compliance reports, including timecard approval tracking
- Prepare repayment agreements related to retroactive pay adjustments and coordinate required approvals and signatures
- Review and clear payroll notifications during test runs to ensure accurate final payroll processing
- Audit payroll runs to confirm accurate earnings updates for tax reporting and W-2 compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, SOX requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain payroll records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
- Process garnishments and wage assignments accurately and timely
- Manage and resolve service tickets within established SLAs, including pay corrections, issue resolution, and employee support

Requirements
- Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of advanced payroll processing experience (hourly and salaried) in a similarly sized, multi-state organization
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, including state and local tax regulations
- Experience with Workforce Software (Time & Attendance and Advanced Scheduling) preferred
- Experience with SAP Employee Central Payroll preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred

Pay
$28.90 - $43.34 an hour. A starting salary higher than $28.90 an hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements.
