About the role
The Senior Paralegal - Litigation provides litigation support, legal analysis, and guidance on loan-level matters, regulatory compliance issues, and business disputes. This role works closely with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to manage legal risk, support active litigation, and provide practical legal advice to the business. This role requires 100% onsite attendance in our Pontiac office.
What You Will Be Doing
- Assist with the management of litigation matters, including gathering facts, reviewing pleadings, discovery responses, and legal correspondence
- Support loan-level legal issues involving origination, servicing, foreclosure, bankruptcy, consumer complaints, and regulatory inquiries
- Conduct legal research and analysis related to state and federal laws, regulations, and industry requirements
- Draft and review legal documents, correspondence, policies, and internal memoranda
- Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation strategy, case status updates, discovery, and document production
- Review and analyze legal claims, demand letters, subpoenas, and other legal requests
- Provide practical legal guidance to business leaders and internal departments on legal and compliance matters
- Assist in responding to regulatory examinations, audits, investigations, and consumer complaints
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable legal requirements
- Maintain accurate records and reporting related to litigation and legal matters
What We Need From You
Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate
- Experience supporting litigation, legal research, and legal document drafting preferred
- Familiarity with mortgage banking, consumer finance, servicing, foreclosure, bankruptcy, or financial services laws is a plus
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with internal clients, business leaders, and outside counsel
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently while thriving in a team-based environment
