About the role
The Litigation Paralegal role at Morris & Dean is pivotal in supporting the firm’s personal injury practice. This role exists to manage post-litigation processes and ensure that all critical documents and deadlines are meticulously handled.
Responsibilities
- Case Management: Oversee post-litigation processes for approximately 30 active cases, focusing primarily on personal injury and some business litigation.
- Document Drafting: Draft and file essential litigation documents including complaints, answers, interrogatories, discovery requests, and demand letters.
- Client Communication: Engage proactively with clients for status updates and scheduling, ensuring clear and professional interaction.
- Organize Files: Maintain and organize all litigation files, tracking case materials such as medical records, police reports, and agreements.
- Support Attorneys: Assist attorneys in meeting deadlines, preparing briefs, and prioritizing tasks for efficient case progression.
- Utilize Technology: Leverage AI tools like EvenUp for timelines and drafting assistance to enhance efficiency.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys and case staff to ensure cohesive case management while occasionally aiding the intake process.
Requirements
- Experience Required: At least 2–3 years in personal injury litigation; capable of managing cases independently.
- Drafting Skills: Proven ability to draft standard litigation pleadings and responses accurately and efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills with attention to detail and professional client interactions.
- Organization: Highly organized and self-motivated with a keen ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Team Player: Collaborative mindset with a strong cultural fit; willingness to assist and share knowledge.
- Technology Aptitude: Comfort with AI tools and legal case management software; adaptive to new technologies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred.
- Licensure: Paralegal certification or equivalent experience.
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
