Litigation Paralegal
About the role
Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 firm, is seeking a litigation paralegal in our Pittsburgh or Atlanta offices to assist attorneys with commercial litigation and complex business litigation matters.
Responsibilities
- Proactive with case management and organization
- Maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases
- Electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system or local State Court sites under the supervision of an attorney
- Perform online PACER research
- Prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions
- Experience drafting medical chronologies preferred
Requirements
- At least 5 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle
- Strong organizational skills
- Well-developed critical thinking skills
- Very detailed oriented
- A working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs
- A strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities
- Resolves issues proactively
- Knows how to be a true team player
- Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs
Qualifications
2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education.
Skills
Knowledge of Georgia court systems, in addition to Pennsylvania, a plus.
