The work model for the role is hybrid, based in Auburn Hills, MI. This role contributes to the Paint/Sealer Automotive Business group in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Create and complete bids, estimations, and quotations based on customer specifications or requirements/budget to achieve market competitiveness and expected margin levels.
  • Maintain and improve the balance between ABB units and customers within the area of responsibility.
  • Formulate competitive bids, estimates, and quotations with the best product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations, ensuring timely and detailed proposals with full and accurate costs.
  • Calculate budget values for the sales team or customer to evaluate willingness to invest using an appropriate level of detail.
  • Manage the preparation of all technical and commercial documentation, including defining the most suitable technology and product types, financial details (e.g., total price sheet, cash flow analysis), and trading conditions.
  • Collaborate with sales teams and engage with customers as required.
  • Work with engineering operations teams during bid estimation.
  • Ensure inputs for editing activities are provided on time and follow established quality procedures in accordance with bid/estimate/quotation planning.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12+ years of Paint/Sealer Proposal or System Engineering experience.
  • BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Must be able to travel 50%, mainly domestically.
  • Enhanced knowledge of:
    • Paint and Sealer processes
    • Paint and Sealer application equipment
    • Paint and Sealer materials
    • Paint and Sealer robots
    • Control systems (PLC and HMI/SCADA)
    • AutoCAD and EPLAN
    • Field experience (Installation/Commissioning)
    • Working with external suppliers for quotations
