Senior Operations Manager, Amazon
About the role
At Amazon, we are looking for a Site Leader for our Transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a sortation center in the region, overseeing transportation processes from fulfillment centers to sortation hubs and delivery centers.
Responsibilities
- Define, build, and execute transportation processes, including those between fulfillment centers and sortation hubs, and further to delivery centers.
- Hire, train, and build a motivated workforce for sortation hubs, collaborating with HR and training teams to meet operational requirements and maintain high quality and productivity.
- Ensure adequate capacity for peak times to manage volume effectively.
- Coordinate with finance, delivery stations, fulfillment centers, and projects teams on matters related to city operations.
- Conduct performance appraisals and mentor team members to handle efficient operations.
- Continuously improve defined processes and maintain a high performance standard.
- Initiate improvements to enhance quality standards, reduce waste, and eliminate unnecessary work.
- Analyze data reports to identify performance bottlenecks and implement strategies to improve performance.
- Drive key initiatives related to safety, engagement, network speed, and cost optimization across the region.
- Lead daily stand-ups, weekly business reviews (WBRs), monthly business reviews (MBRs), and peak preparedness calls.
- Implement process improvement mechanisms such as Kaizen and Continuous Improvement.
- Review and finalize labor plans to optimize costs while maintaining high performance standards and associate experience.
- Coach and guide Ops managers to foster a culture of continuous improvement and reduce waste in conjunction with central ACES team.
- Liaise with other Site Leaders/Regional leaders, central teams to benchmark best practices and deploy them on the floor.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Well-rounded leadership capabilities and strong people management skills
- Ability to adapt to evolving situations and work in ambiguous environments
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and analyze data
