Senior Mental Health Clinician (RPN/SW/OT/SP GR4 or PSY Gr3)- Infant Child and Youth Mental Health

About the role

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Moorabbin, offering flexible ADO (Accrued Day Off) arrangements. The role is open to Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists (Grade 4), or Psychologists (Grade 3). You will join the Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS), a specialist, multi-disciplinary, and intensive care mental health service for infants, children, young people, and their families/carers. The service incorporates lived and living experience through family peer specialists and youth peer workers and is divided into two streams: 0–11 years and 12–26 years. It includes specialist services in perinatal care, neurodevelopmental presentations, eating disorders, and outreach support.

This position sits within the 12–26 youth program, providing clinical assessment, intervention, case management, and single session/brief therapy for children and young people experiencing emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties, as well as their families. As a senior role, it includes leadership responsibilities, staff and student supervision, and discipline-specific consultation and assessment for clients and clinical services both within and external to ICYAMHWS.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical assessment and intervention for children and young people (12–26 years) experiencing emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties.
• Deliver case management and single session/brief therapy to young people and their families.
• Offer discipline-specific consultation and assessment to clients and clinical services internal and external to ICYAMHWS.
• Participate in leadership activities within the service.
• Supervise staff and students.

Requirements

• Approved tertiary qualifications and eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body (Nurses & Midwifery Board, Occupational Therapy Board, Psychology Board via AHPRA, Speech Pathology Australia, or AASW).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mental health interventions at a senior level.
• Australian working rights and current Influenza vaccination (or acceptable medical exemption).
• Current Victorian Driver’s License.
• Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo a background check.
