This leadership role oversees a global team of solution and application architects, driving technical and people leadership to enable UDX business and guest experience solutions across multiple value streams. The Sr Manager, Lead Architect ensures strategic themes and enterprise architecture design patterns are followed, provides subject matter expertise, and partners closely with D&T teams and business leaders to inspire UDX culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee solution architecture, application architecture, and application design, enforcing consistent technology and architecture design patterns for simplicity, scalability, and flexibility.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing high-level technical assessments and architectural guidance.
  • Author and manage technical design artifacts for value stream-wide solutions with various integrations, ensuring alignment with solution and enterprise roadmaps.
  • Ensure architecture documentation is usable by both senior executives and individual developers.
  • Create and manage KPIs for architecture delivery.
  • Collaborate with D&T leaders to ensure solutions meet cross-team needs and align with other architecture groups, such as security architecture.
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and on-site support teams to drive cohesive solutions.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage direct reports, fostering team member satisfaction and a strong Universal culture.
  • Provide decision-making and priority management for the team.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, information technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • 9+ years in technology delivery and implementation.
  • 9+ years of experience in global/large-scale/enterprise solution architecture and platform development.
  • Extensive experience in front-end and back-end integration design.
  • Proven experience with executive communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with architecture design patterns using NoSQL and SQL databases.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle.
  • Broad technical knowledge across the industry, with a track record of implementing complex solutions successfully.
  • Demonstrated technical strategic ability.
  • Extensive knowledge in creating, managing, and integrating with REST and SOAP-based APIs.
  • Experience with UML artifacts.
  • Technical background with an understanding of high-level networks, routers, switches, firewalls, BGP, and SANs.

Qualifications

  • TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or other architectural framework certification (preferred).
  • Cloud platform certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect (preferred).
