About the role

At El Car Wash, the Senior Maintenance Technician isn't just the most experienced person in the room — they're the one who makes the whole team better. You lead a team of technicians, own major project execution across multiple sites, build the training frameworks that raise our maintenance standards organization-wide, and ensure uptime is never an afterthought. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves the craft and wants to scale it.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop your team - Coach, mentor, and grow a team of Maintenance Technicians — building their skills, not just completing work through them.
  • Own major projects - Lead maintenance for rebrands, acquisitions, and new builds from start to finish — coordinating vendors, managing budgets, and delivering quality execution on time.
  • Build the training - Create and deliver preventive maintenance training for Managers on Duty. If the content doesn't exist yet, you build it from scratch.
  • Solve the complex problems - Troubleshoot and repair advanced electrical, MCC, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems — the ones that stump others.
  • Ensure compliance - Maintain vendor relationships, oversee project budgets, and ensure all work meets safety, regulatory, and EL brand standards.
  • Support cross-regional needs - Travel 10–20% across regions to support sites, projects, and your team where they need you most.
  • Connect the work to the outcome - Help your team understand why uptime matters for the customer experience — you lead with context, not just tasks.

Competencies

  • Job Knowledge & Technical Proficiency — Maintains strong operational knowledge and ensures the team is trained on procedures and systems.
  • Problem-Solving — Resolves operational issues, supports team problem solving, and escalates when needed.
  • Team Collaboration — Builds a positive team culture, runs effective meetings, and addresses team conflict promptly.
  • Drives Results — Delivers site performance goals, manages daily execution, and holds team members accountable.
  • Safety & Compliance — Ensures safety standards are followed, corrects unsafe behaviors, and promotes a safe work culture.
  • Customer-Centric Approach — Sets service expectations, coaches team members on customer interactions, and addresses service issues quickly.
