Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 per year A bit about us: Our client is a well established, mid sized law firm based in the Baltimore metropolitan area with a litigation practice built over several decades. The firm represents insurance carriers, self insured entities, and corporate policyholders in a wide range of defense matters, including general liability, premises liability, auto and trucking claims, professional liability, and workers compensation. Attorneys here work closely with claims professionals and adjusters, managing files from early investigation through trial, and the firm has a strong track record of favorable outcomes in front of Maryland courts and juries. Why join us? This company gives litigators genuine ownership of a defense caseload rather than years spent purely in a supporting capacity. Attorneys manage direct relationships with carrier clients and claims teams, gain regular courtroom and trial exposure, and work alongside partners with deep experience defending complex liability and coverage disputes. The firm operates as one integrated team rather than siloed practice groups, so defense counsel can draw on colleagues in coverage, corporate, and general litigation when a file calls for it. For an attorney who wants to try cases, build carrier relationships, and grow toward partnership on a stable, established platform, this is a strong long term fit. Job Details Active license to practice law in Maryland, in good standing Minimum of 7 to 10 years of civil defense litigation experience, with a focus on insurance defense (general liability, premises liability, auto/trucking, or professional liability) Experience managing a defense caseload for insurance carriers or corporate clients, including direct interaction with claims adjusters and in house counsel Demonstrated first or second chair trial experience Strong command of discovery practice, motions, depositions, and dispositive briefing, with the ability to run files independently Familiarity with Maryland insurance law and coverage principles preferred Comfort working within carrier billing guidelines and reporting requirements J.D. from an accredited law school Interested in hearing more?
