Senior Insurance Litigation Attorney (Defense)

About the role

Our client is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney with 10+ years of experience to support its New York defense practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned litigator to take on a key role handling complex matters in a collaborative and forward-thinking law firm environment.

Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of New York defense litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and legal memoranda
• Conduct legal research and prepare detailed reports and analyses
• Participate in and lead court conferences, depositions, hearings, and trials as appropriate
• Manage case strategy, deadlines, and compliance with client and carrier guidelines
• Maintain accurate time records and billing entries

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting
• Strong background in defense litigation (insurance defense, professional liability, product liability, labor law, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, or general liability)
• Active admission to the New York Bar (additional admissions in NJ, CT, or PA are a plus)
• Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills and professionalism
• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines consistently
