About the Role

We are seeking an experienced litigation lawyer with a broad litigation background, including substantive legal issues, proceedings, and venues, as well as experience appearing before courts and other tribunals. The position is responsible for managing cases and disputes—such as general liability, commercial contract, employment, competition-related, environmental, and intellectual property claims—from inception to trial, appeal, or settlement. The role involves collaborating with outside counsel on case strategies and budget management. The successful candidate will identify and lead litigation strategies and represent the company in legal matters, primarily focusing on domestic issues with opportunities to work on non-U.S. matters. This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic counseling on existing litigations, disputes, litigation avoidance, and risk mitigation
  • Lead internal investigations
  • Counsel clients on proactive measures to reduce and control legal exposure
  • Manage case budgets, forecasts, and outside counsel
  • Participate in the corporate risk review process, tied to accounting and disclosure responsibilities
  • Develop strategic relationships with clients
  • Represent NCR in mediations and before courts and other tribunals
  • Manage electronic discovery aspects of cases
  • Work directly with vendors on contract negotiation and support management

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • 5+ years of related experience in a law firm, including hands-on litigation experience with substantive roles in trials or arbitrations
  • Knowledge of privilege issues relevant to in-house practice
  • Excellent judgment and ability to work independently, including demonstrated self-starter capabilities
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Superior legal and business writing skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery protocols and litigation technology
  • Ability to manage a large number of outside counsel
  • Ability to conduct and direct legal research
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple matters simultaneously
  • Member of the Georgia bar or eligible to practice as an in-house attorney in Georgia
