Senior HVAC Mechanic

Location: Charlestown by Erickson Senior Living, a 110-acre continuing care retirement community in Catonsville, Maryland (suburb of Baltimore). Part of a growing national network managed by Erickson Senior Living.

About the role

Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment—including heat pumps, refrigeration, PRV valves, cooling towers, pumps, motors, hot water systems, and building automation systems—to provide a comfortable and safe environment for residents.

Responsibilities

• Perform requested maintenance of all HVAC and refrigeration equipment as necessary.
• Respond to emergency calls for system and equipment failure.
• Inspect, monitor, and evaluate the efficiency and safety of systems to ensure trouble-free operation.
• Read blueprints and isometrics; prepare sketches as required to document work.
• Perform all necessary scheduled preventive maintenance procedures on designated equipment following manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Troubleshoot and repair designated refrigeration equipment and ice machines.
• Work a reasonable amount of scheduled and “on-call” overtime as necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience in HVAC service; education may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Working knowledge of commercial electrical and plumbing systems.
• Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Current EPA certification to handle refrigerants.

State regulations and requirements may apply and take precedence over the above.

Pay

$29.00–$30.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
