Responsibilities
- Know and follow all safety policies and procedures; ensure co-workers also adhere to safety rules.
- Maintain employee and business confidentiality; protect privacy of internal customers as required by federal and state regulations.
- Stay informed of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions; ensure policies, procedures, and reporting comply with these rules and update them as regulations change.
- Handle acquisition responsibilities: job postings, applicant sorting, interviewing, job offers, and new hire orientation.
- Support ProAmpac Total Rewards, Compensation, and Benefit Programs.
- Manage accurate and compliant I-9 completion, including annual purge process, periodic auditing, and updates; stay current with I-9 rules and regulations.
- Manage leaves of absence (disability, FMLA) requests and return-to-work issues with employees, managers, and third-party administrators; assist employees with third-party administrator issues.
- Oversee payroll process for the Mobile facility.
- Respond to unemployment claims.
- Update departmental SOPs when changes occur; recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve departmental efficiency and services.
- Participate in customer audits to provide HR support; prepare documentation and facilitate employee interviews for hourly vacancies.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude in all dealings with coworkers, customers, and suppliers.
- Provide support outside regular hours as needed to support the plant.
- Seek new ways to streamline processes for continuous improvement.
- Administer progressive discipline and conduct employee investigations when necessary.
- Maintain commitment, awareness, and involvement in Quality policy, standards, procedures, and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Organizational Development from a four-year college; or three plus years of related experience and/or training in a large manufacturing organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- SHRM/HRCI certifications a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Outlook email and calendar capabilities.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and protect privacy of sensitive information.
- Exceptional time management and organization skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
- Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision-making; identifies problems and needs, and develops solutions or options.

Pay
$70,000 - $75,000 per year
Schedule
8 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Will need to work 5 AM - 1:30 PM at least one day a week to accommodate 3rd shift.
Physical Demands
- Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to type, hold, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Operates in a general office environment with some exposure to a manufacturing environment.
- Rare exposure to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, and hot/humid conditions in the manufacturing area during extremely hot summer months.
