Senior HR Generalist
Job Summary
The Senior HR Generalist runs day-to-day HR operations for Royal Hawaiian Movers, including talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, compliance, leave administration, and policy enforcement. The ideal candidate is an expert in Hawaii employment laws, DOT/FMCSA regulations, and DBIDS, and can work autonomously in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
About the Role
Own and maintain compliant DQ files for all CDL drivers across Hawaiian islands per 49 CFR Part 391
Conduct annual DQ audits, MVR pulls, DOT physicals, and medical certificate tracking
Ensure compliance with FMCSA hours of service, drug/alcohol testing, and CDL requirements
Manage end-to-end DBIDS administration (enrollment, renewals, terminations)
Serve as primary liaison with military Pass & ID offices across Hawaii
Track DBIDS expirations to maintain 100% base access compliance
Support the onsite recruiter and step in to assist with recruiting tasks as needed.
Own new hire orientation, onboarding, and I-9/E-Verify compliance
Partner with operations to forecast staffing for CDL drivers, warehouse, and moving crews
Essential Duties
- DOT Compliance & Driver Qualification
- Own and maintain compliant DQ files for all CDL drivers across Hawaiian islands per 49 CFR Part 391

- Ensure compliance with FMCSA hours of service, drug/alcohol testing, and CDL requirements
- DBIDS & Military Installation Access
- Manage end-to-end DBIDS administration (enrollment, renewals, terminations)
- Serve as primary liaison with military Pass & ID offices across Hawaii
- Track DBIDS expirations to maintain 100% base access compliance
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Support the onsite recruiter and step in to assist with recruiting tasks as needed.
- Own new hire orientation, onboarding, and I-9/E-Verify compliance

- Total Rewards & Payroll
- Serve as primary HR liaison to payroll for employment changes and leaves
- Administer benefits, support open enrollment, maintain HRIS data integrity (UKG)
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain compliance with federal and Hawaii state employment laws
- Administer leaves (FMLA, Hawaii Family Leave, etc.) and Workers' Compensation
- Conduct regular HR compliance audits
- Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Conduct investigations into employee relations concerns
- Coach managers on performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution
- Support annual performance review process
- Learning, Development & Engagement
- Coordinate mandatory training (Harassment Prevention, DOT Compliance, Safety)
- Support employee engagement and retention programs
- Strategic HR Operations
- Act as strategic partner to operations leaders across Hawaiian islands
- Analyze HR metrics, lead process improvements, and maintain HR knowledge
Core HR
- Practical knowledge of Hawaii employment laws
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills
- Able to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, UKG HRIS, and an ATS (e.g., Indeed)
- Effectively use AI tools to increase productivity, while verifying outputs for accuracy, confidentiality, compliance, and good judgment.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years HR experience
- Preferred SHRM or HRCI certification
- Hands-on proficiency with UKG HRIS & Experience in transportation, logistics, or trucking a plus
Physical & Other Requirements
- Prolonged sitting and computer work
- Able to lift 15 pounds
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
- Must pass drug test and criminal background check
- Must be able to meet MVR requirements per company policy
Compensation
