Senior HR Generalist
Our client is a growing defense technology organization that delivers secure communications, digital security, and mission-critical technology solutions to government, defense, and enterprise customers. They are seeking a hands-on HR professional to join their collaborative team and make an immediate impact.
About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to join its small, collaborative HR team. This is a hands-on role supporting all aspects of Human Resources, with a strong emphasis on employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and partnering with leadership. The ideal candidate is confident working independently, enjoys building relationships across the organization, and is comfortable presenting to senior leaders.
Reports directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer. Position is open due to maternity leave coverage with the potential for a long-term opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer to implement strategic HR initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations, performance management, and employee development.
- Conduct employee relations investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions.
- Coach managers through performance improvement plans and corrective actions.
- Lead onboarding, employee engagement, and offboarding activities.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment and benefits administration.
- Analyze HR metrics and prepare reports and presentations for leadership.
- Present HR updates during management and company-wide meetings.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including VEVRAA, EEO, and government contractor requirements.
- Support annual performance reviews and merit increase processes.
- Update HR policies, employee communications, and handbook content.
- Assist with HR audits, including government compliance and 401(k) audits.
- Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in Human Resources preferred.
- 5–7 years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
- Strong employee relations and manager coaching experience.
- Benefits administration and open enrollment experience.
- Federal government contractor experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance.
- Experience with HRIS systems; Paycom experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal training.

$35.00–$40.00/hour. Overtime is eligible but not expected.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:00 PM | 40 hours/week | 100% Onsite
