Senior Housekeeping Manager-Full Time - The Langham, Chicago
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
The Senior Housekeeping Manager is responsible for leading all Housekeeping operations to ensure exceptional cleanliness, comfort, and overall presentation throughout the hotel. This role assists the Director of Housekeeping to oversee Housekeeping staff, maintain luxury brand standards, manage inventory, and ensure outstanding guest experience through efficient operations and attention to detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES
- Oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping and laundry departments.
- Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, meeting spaces, restaurants, lounges, and other hotel facilities consistently meet luxury cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive housekeeping and deep-cleaning programs.
- Supervise and manage all contracted cleaning services to ensure quality and compliance with hotel standards.
- Prepare departmental schedules and manage staffing levels to meet operational requirements.
- Administer weekly payroll and assist the Director of Housekeeping with payroll preparation and labor reporting.
- Maintain accurate lost & found records and ensure timely follow-up with guests.
- Foster positive guest relations by responding promptly and professionally to guest requests, concerns, and service recovery opportunities.
- Ensure all team members comply with hotel policies, procedures, grooming standards, and safety requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with other hotel departments to support seamless operations.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings to communicate goals, service initiatives, and operational updates.
- Recruit, train, coach, mentor, and evaluate supervisors and team members while promoting employee engagement and career development.
- Implement employee recognition programs and initiatives that support retention and motivation.
- Complete employee performance evaluations in a timely manner and support performance improvement where needed.

- Ability to adapt quickly to changing operational needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Walk and stand for approximately 75% of the workday.
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, and pull housekeeping equipment and supplies.
- Climb stairs and move through the hotel as required.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and frequent interruptions.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position.
- A high school diploma required.
- A college degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- At least two years related work experience required.
- Must have experience directly managing employees.
- Housekeeping and/or hotel experience preferred.
