Senior Executive – Director of MSR Acquisition and Trading
Job Summary/Objective
The senior executive role for Capital Markets and MSR Acquisition and Trading is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects related to the acquisition of Mortgage Servicing Rights from MSR sellers.
Essential Functions
- Develop, maintain, enhance and utilize proprietary and third-party MSR cashflows models to support the bidding and acquisition of MSRs
- Mapping of loan level data and running cash flow models to produce valuation reports
- Provide analysis and analytic support to key business and investment partners, leveraging existing valuation tools and methodologies
- Work with third party brokers, proprietary sellers and other bulk and flow sellers of MSR’s to prepare timely valuation assessments for Investment Committee consideration and acquisition in advance of bidding due dates
- Work with BSI’s MSR investment partners to provide MSR cashflow analysis, market color, and support to facilitate their investment decision process when considering buying MSRs
- Produce reports used by the Investment Committee and others to permit assessments of the appropriate pricing and risk assessment for MSR portfolios
- Initiate adverse scenario analysis, assumption review, and prepayment analysis to assess and highlight portfolio performance and risks
- Provide analytical support for internal and external potential excess spread investment partners to support growth in company MSR investment partnerships
- Research and obtain information on current trends and developments in MSR modeling and MSR markets to ensure BSI methodologies are best practice and in line with other market participants
Competencies/Skills
- Extensive knowledge and experience trading MSRs, Mortgage-Backed Securities and/or whole loans
- Knowledge and experience in how to build and monitor pricing grids for conventional flow acquisitions and Ginnie Mae PIIT transfers
- Knowledge and relationships with participants in the MSR market to enable growth in MSR acquisitions
- Knowledge of mortgage products, terminology and trading protocols
- Attention to detail, high level of accuracy and ability to review self-created work
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (professional business communication skills)
- Familiarity with third party MSR cashflow models, especially with experience using MIAC WinOAS software
- Excellent computer skills, especially in MS Excel
- Familiarity with third party software used to value MSR’s
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or other quantitative fields of study required. Master's degree preferred
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to sit for long periods of time is essential.
Position Type And Expected Hours Of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional hours may be required.
