Responsibilities
- Work on projects of high complexity, contributing to the conceptualization and development of full documentation for new construction and renovation projects across various facility types.
- Supervise a team of electrical engineers and designers, guiding their development and career goals.
- Lead client meetings to establish design criteria, review project progress, and support through construction administration.
- Select and engineer all electrical systems and products for a project, preparing and reviewing project specifications and construction documents.
- Develop designs through sketches, engineering calculations, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats, coordinating with the project team.
- Conduct quality assurance and control on own projects and those of peers, participating in project coordination meetings.
- Develop new standards and specifications for the electrical engineering group, collaborating with other engineers.
- Perform field work to review existing facility conditions and contractors’ work, applying sustainable design principles.
- Provide client consultation and support new project proposals, fostering client relationships and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, giving direction and feedback, and engaging in creative and critical thought.
- Ensure accurate and complete work of others, managing time to meet project deadlines and budgets, and recognizing and addressing technical issues.
- Apply technical expertise to meet project requirements within established timelines and budgets.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to communicate effectively.
- Experience in power distribution, lighting, and low voltage systems.
- Knowledge of construction processes and construction administration roles.
- Ability to apply sustainable design principles throughout the project lifecycle.
- Understanding of applicable codes and standards, such as NFPA, International Building Codes, and energy codes.
- Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead multiple projects and design teams, maintain project execution excellence, and meet project deadlines.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, and experience with AGI 32, SKM, and Newforma.
- Experience in healthcare, laboratory, and industrial facilities is advantageous but not required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with a lighting/electrical emphasis.
- Minimum 15 years of related professional experience.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
