Responsibilities

  • Work on projects of high complexity, leading a team or project through all phases of a project lifecycle.
  • Lead the technical aspects of projects, including electrical systems and products, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate electrical engineered systems and products for projects.
  • Prepare and review project specifications and construction documents.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and those of peers.
  • Develop new standards and specifications for the electrical engineering group.
  • Perform field work to review existing facility conditions and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Apply sustainable design principles throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate with clients, provide technical consultations, and support new project proposals.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with a lighting/electrical emphasis.
  • Minimum 15 years of related professional experience.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas effectively.
  • Experience in the construction industry and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NFPA Standards, International Building Codes, and Applicable Energy Codes.
  • Ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.
  • Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines at the conceptual and/or schematic programming design phase.
  • Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple overlapping projects and design teams while maintaining project execution excellence and schedule.
  • Ability to recognize and address technical problems.
  • Ability to check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to give direction and feedback to senior and junior engineers and designers.
  • Ability to lead collaboration in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to develop sketches, drawings, building programs, and other similar materials for use by junior engineers and designers.
  • Ability to produce calculations based on project specific parameters, such as load calculations, short circuit studies, and lighting calculations.
  • Ability to produce reports and studies as well as interpret the findings of reports or studies prepared by others.
  • Ability to produce project specific technical specifications independently from an industry or office standard master specification.
  • Experience in healthcare, laboratory, and industrial facilities is advantageous but not required.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with AGI 32, SKM, and Newforma.
  • Working knowledge of low voltage systems such as telecommunications, security, and fire alarm.
