Senior Director of Strategy and CST Chief of Staff

About the role

The Chief of Staff for the CST President will oversee key meetings and reviews, design agendas, and ensure follow-ups. This role involves serving as a liaison between the CST OU President and various stakeholders, preparing essential communications, and owning and advancing CST’s strategy and transformation agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the operational cadence and rhythm for CST LT, including Weekly check-ins, Monthly Operating Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, Extended Leadership Reviews, and Strat plan summits.

  • Design the agenda, meeting planning, and post-meeting follow-ups for operating mechanisms and meetings.

  • Own a business performance management scorecard, including a report-out of key enterprise and OU KPIs, and follow up to drive progress against key KPIs and OKRs.

  • Serve as a liaison between the CST OU President and other senior leaders, employees, portfolio, corporate, and external stakeholders.

  • Prepare presentations, reports, and other communications on behalf of the President or other key leaders at CST LT.

  • Facilitate effective communication across the business unit to ensure alignment and collaboration.

  • Lead the development of longer-term strategic and business plans, in alignment with Medtronic's corporate strategic planning process.

  • Support the overall CST Transformation agenda and monitor the progress of key strategic initiatives in support of the transformation agenda, including key metrics and milestones.

  • Support the CST VP of Strategy on any special projects as needed.

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree required, minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience, OR advanced degree with a minimum 13 years prior relevant experience, minimum of 10+ years of managerial experience.

  • MBA or PhD or relevant Master’s degree (nice to have).

  • 3+ years in a top-tier consulting firm or equivalent experience in business strategy focused on growth, strategy or commercial (nice to have).

  • 5+ years of domain experience in Medical Devices, digital surgery, product development, specifically in orthopedics or Spine (highly desirable).

  • Successful track record in strategy development, analysis and planning, strong understanding of strategic planning and corporate development processes (must have).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to perform complex qualitative and quantitative analysis (must have).

  • Highly collaborative, teamwork-oriented, low ego working style, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a hands-on manner (must have).

  • Excellent communication skills; articulate and persuasive when speaking; able to convey ideas effectively to any audience (must have).

  • Experience navigating ambiguity within a complex organization (must have).
