About the role

The Senior Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction) plays a crucial role in the design, pre-construction, and construction phases of various projects. This position requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of commercial construction practices.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the development of master development programs for sites, including campus design solutions and capital budgets.
  • Collaborate with QTS stakeholders, design, and construction teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring they align with the overall project goals.
  • Interface with contractors to review and negotiate change orders and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Coordinate with site security teams to establish and maintain appropriate construction security procedures.
  • Create and maintain relationships with key QTS stakeholders to represent the company's interests effectively.
  • Participate in due diligence efforts related to potential or new land banks and properties, including evaluating opportunities for designing and building new data centers.
  • Support internal development teams in enhancing project management processes and protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures, including management of Lump Sum, Construction Management @ Risk, and Design Build project delivery methods.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of interfacing with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven team player with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required due to federal customer contracts.
  • Experience with mission critical data center facilities.
  • Knowledge and experience with management of MEP trades.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, especially at a tactical and functional level.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
