About the role

The Senior Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction) plays a crucial role in the design, preconstruction, and construction phases of various projects. This position requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of commercial construction practices.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the development program for sites, including campus design solutions and capital budgets
  • Manage entitlement and permitting processes for each assigned site project
  • Evaluate and level price proposals for design, construction, and commissioning services
  • Coordinate submittals with site stakeholders
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely completion
  • Negotiate change order requests and manage team performance
  • Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and represent QTS interests in meetings
  • Participate in due diligence efforts for potential or new land banks and properties
  • Aid in the establishment and monitoring of entitlement and permit processes for individual projects
  • Support internal development team in enhancing project management processes and protocols

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience
  • One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Proven team player with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

  • Basic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint for use in communicating program updates to executive level, and Excel to create and maintain site program & individual project budgets

Skills

  • One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures, including management of Lump Sum, Construction Management @ Risk, and Design Build project delivery methods from conceptual development through procurement to close out
  • Experience or exposure in mission critical data center facilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization
  • Capable of solving problems at a tactical and functional level
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
