About the role
The Senior Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction) plays a crucial role in the design, preconstruction, and construction phases of various projects. This position requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of commercial construction practices.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the development of master development programs for sites, including comprehensive campus designs and capital budgets.
- Collaborate with QTS stakeholders, design, and construction teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and status reports, ensuring they align with overall project goals.
- Interface with contractors to review and negotiate change orders, and establish site construction security procedures.
- Participate in procurement processes for equipment and coordinate with the strategic procurement team.
- Engage in due diligence efforts, evaluating opportunities for new data center projects and managing entitlement and permit processes.
- Support the internal development team in enhancing project management processes and protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience.
- One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Basic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint for program updates and Excel for budget maintenance.
- One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures.
- Experience or exposure in mission critical data center facilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Proven ability to solve problems at a tactical and functional level.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
