About the role
The Senior Controller is responsible for leading the accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions for The Fay Group, overseeing all Fay Group entities. Key responsibilities include:
- Timely month-end close processes and accurate financial reporting
- Primary liaison with external financial audit firms
- Identifying and implementing process optimization opportunities
- Collaborating with third-party valuation firms
- Oversight for cash flow management, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany account balancing
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Leading efforts to enhance key accounting processes and controls
- Documenting management's position on current and emerging accounting treatments
- Coordinating multiple audits
- Providing guidance to the accounting team
- Reviewing contracts for asset ownership and financial recognition
Responsibilities
The Senior Controller oversees the accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions for The Fay Group, including:
- Ensuring timely month-end close processes and accurate financial reporting
- Managing internal reporting, disbursement reviews, payroll, debt reporting, and lender covenant compliance
- Leading efforts to enhance key accounting processes and controls
- Documenting management's position on current and emerging accounting treatments
- Coordinating multiple audits
- Providing guidance to the accounting team
- Reviewing contracts for asset ownership and financial recognition
Requirements
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA, or equivalent professional certification
- 15+ years’ progressive experience in accounting
- 10+ years’ experience in a senior accounting role within mortgage servicing for financial services segments, including Controller-level experience
- Previous experience managing people and leading teams
- Strong financial reporting, summarization, and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, investor reporting requirements, and MSR valuation
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software systems
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to foster an environment of positive employee engagement and trust
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail
- Strong project management skills
- Self-directed and able to manage change
- Strong business acumen and fiscal and technical aptitude

Pay
The hiring range for this position is between $175,000.00 - $225,000.00 annually.
Schedule
This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
