Senior Controller

About the role

The Senior Controller is responsible for leading the accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions for The Fay Group, overseeing all Fay Group entities. Key responsibilities include ensuring timely month-end close processes, accurate financial reporting, liaising with external financial audit firms, assessing mortgage servicing rights, and managing internal reporting.

• Led the accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions for Fay Group entities
• Ensured timely month-end close processes and accurate financial reporting
• Served as the primary liaison with external financial audit firms
• Audited mortgage servicing rights and ensured compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Managed cash flow management, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany account balancing
• Supported budgeting and forecasting processes through collaboration with third-party valuation firms
• Oversaw debt reporting, lender covenant compliance, and coordination of multiple audits
• Reviewed contracts to accurately determine asset ownership and ensure proper financial recognition

Requirements

• Deep expertise in mortgage servicing finance or financial services segments
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Proactive approach to process improvement and risk management
• Strong financial reporting, summarization, and communication skills
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, investor reporting requirements, and MSR valuation
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software systems
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA, or equivalent professional certification
• 15+ years’ progressive experience in accounting
• 10+ years’ experience in a senior accounting role within mortgage servicing for financial services segments, including Controller-level experience
• Previous experience managing people and leading teams
• Strong financial reporting, summarization, and communication skills
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, investor reporting requirements, and MSR valuation
• Experience in financial audits, internal controls, and regulatory compliance
• Advanced understanding of enterprise accounting systems, cash flow operations, cost structures, and financial resource planning
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software systems
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships
