The Senior Clerk position at the Florida Department of Health in St. Petersburg supports dental and medical services by managing appointments, handling high-volume incoming calls, and providing general information about department services.

Responsibilities

  • Use multiple computer applications to set appointments for dental and medical services.
  • Answer incoming calls and provide general information about Department of Health’s services.
  • Verify insurance and transfer calls accordingly.
  • Relay electronic messages to medical services staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate telephone software and handle a high volume of incoming calls.
  • Ability to use multiple computer programs and software such as Microsoft Office to retrieve and/or input data.
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills.
  • Ability to independently solve problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as good listening skills.
  • Strong English-Spanish bilingual proficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality laws.
  • Ability to work with a broad population.
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications

  • Minimum:
    • At least 1 year of computer experience.
    • At least 1 year of experience working in a fast-paced customer service position.
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience working with different health insurances, including Medicaid.
    • At least 1 year of experience working in a medical office setting.
    • At least 1 year of call center experience.

Pay

$34,759.92 annually.
