About the role

The Senior Banquet Manager coordinates the activities of the banquet department to deliver a quality product and service, ensuring high levels of guest satisfaction while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group Brand Standards and LQA standards. This role leads the Banquet team, oversees training, and ensures proper execution of events.

Responsibilities

  • Finalize food, beverage, and meeting room set-up requirements for events.
  • Ensure accurate and proper setup of all event spaces on scheduled shifts.
  • Finalize and post event checks, ensuring balance in Micros, Delphi, and Shiiji systems.
  • Upsell menus to achieve food and beverage cost targets when appropriate.
  • Maintain full understanding of the Hotel’s Catering standard operating procedures and adhere to guidelines.
  • Complete assigned projects promptly and accurately.
  • Establish and maintain customer contact at all functions, building and sustaining relationships.
  • Communicate pertinent event information across departments to ensure proper execution.
  • Identify and recommend new ideas, methods, and markets.
  • Promote energy conservation, company programs, and accident prevention goals.
  • Conduct opening and closing walkthroughs of event spaces.
  • Perform daily operational tasks of line colleagues as needed.
  • Report to duty as scheduled and provide maximum guest service while maintaining brand standards.
  • Meet Langham Hotel & Resorts/The Langham New York Survey/VOC service standards.
  • Train, reinforce, and ensure proper execution of LQA service standards.
  • Maintain all Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment on the floor.
  • Schedule staff according to OnTrack Labor standards and approve departmental payroll.
  • Attend meetings including BEO, Morning Operational Meeting, Pre/Post Cons, Group Resume, Catering ROME, and others as directed.
  • Oversee repairs and maintain floors to The Langham New York Brand Standards.
  • Manage third parties on the floor, including AV companies and agency staffing.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly inventory and purchasing of liquor, equipment, food, linens, and other supplies.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and requisitioning of beverages.
  • Assist Private Kitchen & Club teams as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage banquet operations, including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.
  • Strong math skills, including algebraic equations using percentages.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or bend continuously for 90% of the work shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Fluency in English, both orally and in writing, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to use patience, tact, and diplomacy to resolve problems and handle stressful situations during busy periods.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Micros POS preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or relevant training.
  • Previous experience managing a banquet operation in a luxury or upscale hotel.
  • Ability to obtain any government-required license or certificate.
  • CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.
  • TIPS Certification and SERVSafe Food Managers License.

Physical Demands

  • Activities include standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, handling, grasping, lifting, carrying, seeing, hearing, talking, and walking.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing for 90% of the work shift is required.

Pay

$94,000–$98,000 per year.
