About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Semiconductor Fab Architect to join our team in Albany, New York. The ideal candidate will work independently on various projects and may lead project teams.
Responsibilities
- Assess project requirements and break them down into tasks.
- Work with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing.
- Correct and update design documents.
- Develop solutions to design problems.
- Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company, regulatory agencies, and production standards.
- Supervise architectural construction administration activities, including preparing bulletins, construction sketches, submittal reviews, and RFI responses.
- Perform on-site observations and provide field support as needed.
- Develop Conceptual and Preliminary “BOD” write-ups based on client meetings.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes.
- Work with code officials and other design professionals when interpretations or exceptions to building codes are required.
- Assign and review the work of the project design team.
- Check the progress of work and alert the Project Manager to changes in scope or additional services.
- Recognize the design support abilities of the team and empower them to enhance their design capabilities through challenging assignments.
- Ensure project specifications are delivered with company quality standards and are completed on time as required by the client.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of building design, including both building and GMP cleanroom compliance experience.
- Develop conceptual ideas to present to clients during proposal presentations.
- Research equipment selection from catalogs as needed for the project.
- Ensure acceptable levels of quality and check for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
- Coordinate architectural design work with related engineering disciplines.
- Attend job and construction meetings and participate in the coordination of the work.
- Aid the design team by interpreting drawing mark-ups and executing changes based on such mark-ups.
- Review contractor applications for payments.
- Cover all aspects of project document completion within the company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
- Prepare work plans or review construction budgets based on experience and the scope of the project.
- Promote the use of and participate in the development of company design and production standards.
- Aid in the education and development of design staff and act as a resource for design questions.
- Assist in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 8+ years of architectural office experience or equivalent as a Registered Architect (RA).
- Bachelor's Degree; Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree with NAAB Accreditation.
- Ability to interpret a building program and generate varied design concepts.
- Knowledge of building and zoning codes, and capability to interpret project specifications.
- 6+ years of semiconductor industry experience.
- Experience with semi manufacturing fabrication (Fab) facilities.
- Moderately proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit and a general understanding of BIM workflows.
- Familiarity with hazardous classification, exhaust/intake challenges, seismic and vibration specifications/classifications, and cleanroom ISO classification.
- The ability to exhibit and develop strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven team player with strong time management skills; capable of managing multiple project teams at a time.
- Must hold current ARB registration to be considered for this position.
