Senior Aircraft Sheetmetal Technician - NHC (Contract)

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Aircraft Sheetmetal Technician to join the New Helicopter Completions team in Columbus, MS. This is a temporary (contract) position employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.

About the role

You will perform work on assigned aircraft, assemblies, and parts in the sheet metal area as part of a team focused on quality, productivity, and efficiency. The role ensures the highest quality of care and safety is built into each aircraft assembled and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Read detailed plans and diagrams and inspect and measure parts prior to assembly, ensuring parts are free of defects and correctly sized.
• Install sheet metal parts and assemblies in aircraft, ensuring installations do not endanger aircraft structure or systems operations.
• Fit and assemble skins, frames, and other components, including drilling, fitting, and riveting sub-assemblies such as tail booms and stabilizers.
• Work with inspectors to run tests and verify proper assembly of parts.

Requirements

• Minimum of six (6) years of related experience; some experience may be substituted for education acquired through an A&P license or a degree directly related to aircraft sheet metal or composite.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and apply standard shop practices in fabrication, repair, and modification of aircraft structures.
• Current Airframe or Powerplant license is a plus but not required.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under an existing ITAR license).

• Onsite: 95%
• Vision: Able to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings (daily).
• Hearing: Able to hear conversations in person and via teleconference/phone, as well as production floor sounds including safety warnings or alarms (daily).
• Speaking: Able to participate in conversations, meetings, and communications (daily).
• Equipment Operation: Able to operate office/personal electronic equipment and some production tools, including hydraulic lifts (daily).
• Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs (daily).
• Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs (daily).
• Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture, equipment, and tools (daily).
• Sitting: Able to sit for long periods during meetings or while working on a computer (at least once a month).
• Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving (daily).
• Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor (daily).
• Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice (5%).
• Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces (daily).

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by the site and/or customer site.
